Jenna DeRango

Jenna DeRango joined Broening Oberg Woods & Wilson, P.C. in 2026, bringing more than a decade of courtroom and litigation experience to the firm’s professional liability practice. Her work focuses primarily on legal malpractice defense and attorney discipline matters before the State Bar, while also expanding her experience in other areas of professional liability and general civil litigation matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Jenna spent nearly eleven years with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office as a Deputy County Attorney. Most recently, she served in the Family Violence West Bureau, where she managed a felony caseload involving some of the office’s most serious and sensitive matters, including domestic violence offenses, child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse, and homicide cases. Through this work, Jenna developed substantial trial experience, handling substantive motion practice, presenting oral argument, litigating contested evidentiary hearings, and trying felony cases before juries. She also worked closely with law enforcement during active and complex investigations, serving as a legal resource and helping ensure thorough, effective, and fair investigative practices. Earlier in her tenure, Jenna prosecuted cases within the office’s former Auto Theft Bureau and Community-Based Prosecution Division. She began her career with the office as a law clerk in the Research and Appeals Bureau, where she researched emerging issues in criminal law and helped draft motions, post-conviction filings, and special action petitions for appellate review.

A dedicated advocate for legal education and professional development, Jenna serves as a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. In that role, she teaches trial advocacy, helping students strengthen their courtroom presentation skills, strategic decision-making, and overall confidence as future litigators. She has also instructed law enforcement recruits as a specialist instructor at the Department of Public Safety’s State Trooper Academy and presented a nationwide webinar on best practices in child fatality investigations for the Justice Clearinghouse.

Before becoming a licensed attorney, Jenna gained valuable trial and appellate experience through a variety of judicial and government placements. She served as a certified limited practice student attorney with the City of Chandler Prosecutor’s Office, externed for the Honorable Kent Cattani of the Arizona Court of Appeals (Division One), and interned for the Honorable Warren Granville in the Criminal Division of the Maricopa County Superior Court.
