Legal Clerk Leanne Hay places 4th at Jessup Moot Court Competition, will attend World Competition

Legal clerk Leanne Hay placed 4th in the pacific regional of the Jessup Moot Court Competition.  She and her team from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law placed first overall in the region.  She will be travelling to Washington, DC in April, 2019 to compete in the World Competition, which is widely considered the largest and most prestigious of the moot court competitions.  Best wishes to Leanne at the competition.…

Nick Scavio conducts CLE on federal court procedures

On January 29, 2019 , Nick Scavio conducted a CLE for the firm titled “Federal Court: How to get there (and what to do once you’re in)”.  With the growing number of Federal Court matters our firm is taking, this CLE gave members of the firm a chance to review jurisdictional requirements of the District Court.  In doing so, this CLE covered subject matter jurisdiction, including diversity jurisdiction and how to remove.  Nick also discussed personal jurisdiction and performed a case study of where we successfully dismissed a case brought in the wrong venue.  Finally, Nick compared practice in the …

Kate Corcoran inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers

Kate Corcoran has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America. The induction ceremony at which Kate became a Fellow took place recently before an audience of 850 persons during the Induction Ceremony at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the College in New Orleans, Louisiana. The meeting had a total attendance of 1,020.
